Knowledge is power.

Empowering students through education to reduce risk during police encounters.

What if Every Civilian knew their rights?

We believe it’s an educational imperative that everyone in America know and can exercise their rights effectively during police interactions.

Making “Know Your Rights Education” standard practice in high schools will increase students’ self-efficacy and increase police accountability. Our students must be able to navigate the system, so they can impact the system.

Engaging Lessons

Rights Analysis

There are complex laws and rights that govern police and civilians whether they’re on foot, in the car, or at home. We tackle each of these scenarios, and how to report police misconduct.

Case Studies

Students analyze complex police encounters (e.g. Sandra Bland) to understand policing methods in America. Then, they learn how tactics like de-escalation or mindfulness might help them navigate similar scenarios.

Interactive Theatre

Teachers and students roleplay a variety of potential police encounters, practicing key phrases and strategies for retention.

Seminar & Q+A

Lawyers, activists, and police officers connected to the local community join for a student-led Q+A, followed by a summative Socratic seminar.
